UPDATE 11/06/13: PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN TIME FOR THIS WALK. WE'RE STARTING THIS WALK AT 4 PM, DUE TO DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME. I miss our morning walks around the Ramona Bowl! So much so, that I decided to add an afternoon walk at the Bowl! Please join me for a huff-n-puff 4 mile walk around the Ramona Bowl. We'll start on Girard Street, up to the Bowl, down to Columbia Street, then return back along the same route. You can modify this walk to accommodate your particular fitness level and you are guaranteed to work up a sweat. See you at the Bowl!
Let's take the 22 mile loop around the lake on Friday the 13th!
We had a nice breakfast celebration last year, and I thought we'd continue the tradition! This year, we're going to play a game, often called the "Thieves Christmas Game." Here are the rules: "Each participant supplies one wrapped gift. The gifts are placed in a central location, and participants determine in what order they will take turns selecting them. The first person opens a wrapped gift and the turn ends. On subsequent turns, each person gets the choice of “stealing” any unwrapped item or choosing a wrapped one from the gift pile. When a player's gift is stolen, they can choose to steal an opened gift or select a replacement gift from the pile of wrapped presents. Each turn ends when a gift is unwrapped. The game is over when the last person has taken their turn." It's often easier to select a theme to help in the selection of gifts and to put a dollar limit on our purchases. Our theme is going to be "Celebrating the Holidays", so your unwrapped gift should be something that can be used in holiday entertaining and should cost no more than $10. Some low cost gift ideas are: a bottle of wine (or any spirits!), a pair of Christmas themed oven mitts, decorative napkins or serving trays, a set of wine charms, salt and pepper shakers, a cook book or any homemade craft item! We used to play this game at work every year, and because I used to work with a bunch of lushes, I have a fully stocked bar of every type of glassware you can imagine! Feel free to bring a friend or neighbor! No one should spend the holidays alone! If your guest wants to participate in the game, they should also bring a gift. Dress in your favorite holiday garb and bring a good appetite! "The Good Egg" has a wonderful menu and serves healthy portions at reasonable prices! I've already made reservations for us under my name, so please join us. Here is a picture from last year's event:
